We use only Venere wholegrain rice, never white or refined rice.
Venere wholegrain rice is characterised by its unmistakable natural black colour that, while cooking, releases the scent of sandal wood. The deep black colour becomes a pretty purple once cooked. Venere rice is known for its rich nutritional and antioxidant properties, and in the past, was often called ‘the forbidden rice’. It earned this name because it was reserved for the Chinese emperor to ensure his health and longevity, and forbidden to anyone else.
We use ecological apple cider vinegar, a healthier alternative to conventional rice vinegar.
